We Are Spark Werks

Spark Werks started in 2021 in a small co-working space on Westminster Street in Providence. The founding team had spent years building enterprise SaaS platforms at companies like Philips Healthcare, Meditech, and athenahealth — and saw an opportunity to bring a product-focused, design-driven approach to a sector that was traditionally underserved by modern software practices.

We began as a two-person consultancy, taking on HealthTech integrations and custom development projects. Our first client was a digital therapeutics startup building an FDA-cleared cognitive behavioral therapy platform. We helped them scale from 500 to 50,000 active users in 18 months. That project defined our approach: deep technical work, close collaboration, and a genuine belief that great software can change health outcomes.

By 2023, we had grown to seven people and moved into our current studio space on South Water Street, overlooking the Providence River. Our team today includes engineers, designers, a product strategist, and a clinical domain expert — all united by a shared mission to make healthcare technology actually work for the people who use it.

We've since shipped products used in over 200 hospitals and health systems across the United States. But we're most proud of the relationships we've built — with clients who treat us as an extension of their team, and with each other as we continue to grow and learn.
